Course Description:

This module provides a foundation of knowledge of human resources methods and practices in the public sector. Additionally, will features an overview of the issues, challenges and processes involved in managing employees in the public services.

Course Objectives

The main objectives of the course are:

  1. To provide an understanding of the internal and external contexts in which public sector organizations operate.
  2. To examine the key principles of Human Resources Management and their applicability to public sector organizations.
  3. To understand the role of line managers in the implementation of Human Resources policies.
  4. To identify contemporary and emerging issues in Human Resources Management with particular reference to tensions in the public sector.
