Course Description:
The module introduces students to the main contemporary approaches to public policy studies. In addition, these approaches are based on a number of theoretical perspectives on decision-making, as well as alternative perspectives on policy instruments and implementation. This course is also designed to familiarize students with the basic theories and concepts in social policy and the welfare state.
Course Objectives
The main objectives of the course are:
- To provide an understanding of the main theories and issues shaping developments in contemporary public policy and their implications
- To critically evaluate some of the main theories and issues shaping developments in contemporary public policy
To assess policy problems in the context of key theoretical arguments and principles
