Module description
This module encompasses a range of information related to leading, guiding, and influencing individuals or a group of people towards the achievement of a common goal. The module includes a summary of theoretical frameworks’ assessment of how leaders evolved during the years around business organizations, societal influences, and strategic decision-making. Students are encouraged to relate theory to their own experiences and to apply theory into practice through the development of leadership plans.
Aims of the module
The Leadership module aims to equip students with individual skills as leaders who will motivate others toward a common purpose; and impart skills in building a cohesive team. It focuses on, among others, three elements: leading self, leading others and leading change.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of this module, programme members should be able to:
1. Apply theoretical conceptualization of leadership models to organizations
2. Lead individuals or a group of people for a common goal
3. Apply Information Technology to support leadership practices
4. Develop team working skills through the completion of discussion forums with peers on a common week’s activity
5. Employ effective leadership strategies for appropriate decision making followed by the critical literature assessment of motivation in organizations
6. Conceptualize the evolution of leadership in the 21st century
7. Practice Transactional and Transformational Leadership.
