Module Description

This module is designed to help students evaluate the business skills and commitment necessary to successfully operate an entrepreneurial venture and review the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship.

Module Aim

The aim of this module is to introduce the student to the basic concepts of entrepreneurship in order to understand the issues of establishing an enterprise and the different types of enterprise one might establish.

Module Learning Outcomes

Upon completing of the module students should be able to:

  1. Explain the different types of entrepreneurship and the motivations that drive them
  2. Describe the factors to be taken into account when starting a business
  3. Describe the different types of business ownership and their advantages and disadvantages for different situations and business objectives
  4. Discuss the possible approaches on how to finance a new enterprise
  5. Prepare a business plan
