Module Description
 

This module combines health economics and healthcare financial management. It will enhance the understanding of economic principles, concepts and theoretical frameworks that form the basis of critical assessment of the economic viability of health care programs and initiatives.

Module Aim
This module aims at providing students with an understanding of the issues and concepts of financial management in the health care sector to improve the students’ understanding of variables influencing successful healthcare financial operations.

Module Learning Outcomes
After completing the module students should be able to:

1. Assess the impact of the health sector in the formation of aggregates of the economy
2. Identify the causes and results of the organization and financing of the health care sector in modern societies, in relation to social inequalities
3. Analyse the function of the drug market and the importance of cost-effective exercise leadership
4. Apply macroeconomic tools for understanding the economic dimension of health problems and care
5. Apply the methods of economic analysis to investigate the parameters that affect the configuration of the health status of the population and the differences between developed and developing countries
6. Analyse methods of financing health services and specificities of the institutional and socio-economic environment in which the activity of health units
7. Explain financial service agency health and tools used in making investment decisions - working capital - financial, risk, dividend policy
